I grew up in South Carolina where grits are a breakfast staple. Add some salt, pepper, butter and mix in your bacon and eggs and I’m a happy girl. My nana would make a huge pot of grits and she cooked them perfectly, not too thick, not too runny, and […]

☀️ 🤠 Let summer begin on the TY Ranch:
- Summer storm means Pete becomes a lap dog! He doesn’t like storms.
- The bulls are turned out with the cows & calves in a new pasture and they are enjoying the green grass from all the spring rains.
- Mimi cooked a big country breakfast with her famous sausage gravy.
- Summer storms also Bring beautiful sunsets.
- Time to start riding in the early morning. It gets hot … fast!
- Ty installed a mister fan for our bunny coop. They much prefer the cold winter and don’t tolerate heat well. This will help keep them cool!
- Funny farm chores include cleaning water troughs and the chicken coop.
- I prefer running in the heat versus the cold. It’s hard to get started in the cold. Must be the Carolina girl in me.
- Oakley fits into her 1938 Hamley saddle , given to her by our neighbor, Bob Nicolli in Crested Butte, CO. We remember him every time we see it!
- The Bosque River provides an escape from the heat.
- Mr. Peacock will start shedding his tail train feathers. He will lose them all and they will regrow longer by Christmas.
- Boat time with Uncle Tony on the Brazos.
- Trail rides with the family!
- Finished the book “Broken Country.” I loved this book. It’s tragic, thought provoking, a bit depressing with a murder mystery and twist and turns. But it is written so incredible beautifully. I get so busy it’s hard to sit and read so I listen to parts of the audiobook when I’m in the car. The British narrator was perfect!
- Oakley and I signed copies of “Rosie’s Wild Ride” in Stephenville Atwoods. It’s SO exciting seeing my first book in store!
- Lots of outdoor playtime & soaking up the sun!

🤠 Jim Sharp gave us his old ranch horse, Mr. Jones. He and Rosie are the most perfect horses for Oakley and me… Keeping Mama and Baby safe out on the ranch! It wasn’t until I became a Mama that I became aware and truly understood that horses like these two are worth a million. We can’t thank you Raz! We will take the very best care of Mr. Jones ❤️ And thank you to my wonderful husband Ty for training Rosie and teaching us his horsemanship knowledge. #horse #quarterhorse #clydesdale #ranchhorse
