Pete and I have so enjoyed my Rosie the Horse books to students all over! One of my favorite things is feeling the kid’s excitement and enthusiasm as they inch closer and closer to Pete and me! It’s so sweet! They hang on every word and it’s so fulfilling! This was my first time talking to a class of middle grade students about my life growing up in a small SC town and career path. Kerr Horsemanship Showcase 🐴 What a fun day to enjoy our horses with great people! Oakley road her lesson mustang, Shaza, who took the best care of her. I am so proud of Oakley. She sat on that mare for 5 hours and had the best time talking with everyone. She sat her horse so proudly and confidently. That little mustang took care of Oakley and Ondrea Kerr is such a great teacher for Oakley! As a mama, that’s the best thing you can ask for in a horse & instructor in a dangerous sport! There is something about mustangs that I just love- once wild, tough, resilient, underdogs! Shaza is an amazing mustang and Ondrea has done an amazing job with her! The morning of the show I decided to ride Rosie! She’s never been in a horse show, but she approached it how she approaches everything- with a level head, gentle and calm. Her Ty has put the best foundation on her. We showed in her halter because she’s never had a bit in her mouth. After the show Ty said “I hope you see you have a brave, safe horse that’s going to take care of you.” That’s why he got Rosie- to take care of Oakley and me! Some of the most exciting mornings of my life, were horse show days when I was little! I can still feel that excitement of early mornings and the smell of the barn and horses. 🐴 It was so special to experience a horsemanship showcase with my daughter! I decided morning of the show that I’d ride Rosie even though we hadn’t caught her in about 6 months and she’s never done a horse show. I was so proud of her and the foundation Ty put on her!
