Mama’s Family Favorite Chili

Oh there’s nothing like a delicious bowl of warming chili on a cold day, especially served with a side of piping hot buttery cornbread! My Mama has been making the chili with beans since I was little and it’s always a favorite and requested recipe.

It’s so simple and you can make this on the stovetop (one pot meal) or in the crockpot (a two pot meal). It’ll be your new go to chili recipe for the simplicity of it and the delicious taste! I highly suggest doubling the recipe for a crowd or leftovers freeze great!

This is a healthy recipe but can be made lower fat by choosing 96% lean beef.

Don’t forget the Skillet Cornbread!

  1. Have you ever tried it with ground turkey?

  2. Hi Paige. I am making your chilli tonight for New Years. I am also making the cornbread. The recipe sounds really good. I am making it my own though. I am using ROI-Tel instead of the plane jane diced tomatoes and I also put a huge sweet onion in it and doubled the green chili amount. I also added a 3rd tbsp of New Mexico chili powder. My little house smells so good right now. Tell Ty howdy for me. I used to rodeo with him back in his AZ days. He’s a good guy and you are blessed to have gathered him up. Keep posting your killer recipes. I’m gonna have to buy me some bigger Wranglers soon. LOL.

  3. Hey Paige, in your skillet cornbread recipe, what size skillet do y’all use? I have a 10” & 12”. My momma always used Jiffy when we went camping but my husband likes Marie Callendar’s Brand because it is sweet. I think I’ll switch to Jiffy since it is also on the sweet side. Thanks!
