This cake is simply the best! It’s sooo moist, decadent and packed with chocolate chips. It’s our favorite cake Mama makes!
Mama Dukes (yes my Mama is a real Mama Dukes) made every single birthday cake for my two sisters and I growing up. She would decorate them and they didn’t look like a perfect bakery decorated cake, but they looked better and tasted better! I would take her homemade cakes with the perfect imperfections over any professionally decorate cake.
As we grew up we started requesting this Chocolate Chip Cake for our birthday instead of a traditional birthday cake.
Ya’ll it is SO good!!!
Variations
This cake is easy to make variations too.
- Try vanilla pudding instead of chocolate.
- Try lemon pudding and mix in dried or fresh blueberries instead of chocolate chips.
- Try coconut pudding with flaked coconut.
- Try pumpkin pudding & add some cinnamon.

Thanks for sharing this. It looks amazing I just made my daughter a Dr Pepper cake and she says she’s not sharing with her kids !!
Can you use these Ingredients and make cupcakes?
I haven’t tried that but I bet so! Just bake them shorter time until a toothpick comes our clean!
